About Ground Floor.

A magazine, a podcast, a journal, and a room — all built around the same idea: place is the story.

Every business has a story. Most people tell the story of the product. Ground Floor tells the story of the place — the lease, the corner, the neighborhood, the year of near-misses that came before the ribbon-cutting.

We are journalists, brokers, architects, and founders who believe the address deserves as much attention as the logo. We publish long-form stories, a weekly journal, and a podcast recorded around a concrete conference table under a wall of blueprints.

What we cover.

  • Founder Stories — how businesses chose their first address.
  • The Deal — lease teardowns and honest arithmetic.
  • Markets — the cities and streets that are actually moving.
  • Build — steel, schedule, and the founder's dilemma.
  • Blueprint — how businesses actually grow.
  • Places — neighborhood spotlights, corridor by corridor.

The mission.

Ground Floor exists to give entrepreneurs the vocabulary and the instincts of a great real estate operator — and to give great real estate operators the audience they deserve. If we do our job, the addresses of the next decade of American businesses will be a little less accidental.

Careers

We're hiring writers, editors, and one great photographer.

If you take place seriously — if you can walk a corridor and write what you saw — we want to hear from you. Remote is fine. Field work is better.
